Williston charms visitors with its friendly personality, active lifestyle, and a hearty helping of fun.
Finding a good sleep in town is easy. There are numerous establishments to choose from, including camp sites which are available at several locations. Eating out is a cafe-style, casual affair. And a night out on the town means heading to the Old Armory Theatre, or making a beeline to 4 Bears Casino & Lodge in New Town.
In addition to Heritage Center and Old Armory, one attraction that should not be missed is the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center and nearby Fort Buford State Historic Site.
Amid attractive surroundings, the Center receives guests from all over the world. It houses two exhibit halls, and is host to numerous educational programs and workshops. There's also a short nature trail with descriptive information on the history and wildlife of the region.
Recreational resources are plentiful here. At Lewis & Clark State Park, 19 miles from town, there's all sorts of activities including camping and bird watching, hiking, nature trails, fishing and boating. A 9-hole game of golf waits at the Williston Municipal Golf Course, and The Links offers a top-rated 18-hole course.
Ten miles of hiking/biking paths weave through the Lewis & Clark State Park; and Theodore Roosevelt National Park (North Unit) offers several paths of varying distances for hikers of different skill levels. Four miles of marked, groomed trails are available for cross-country skiing in the winter months at the Lewis & Clark State Park, as well.
Strength training equipment and an indoor walking track are available at the Mercy Wellness Center. The Raymond Family Community Center has ice-skating, a weight room and open gym, and racquetball courts. Swimming is available at the E.J. Hagan, M.D. Indoor Aquatics Center. In summer, kids enjoy the refreshing outdoor pool and slides at the Eckert Youth Pool on Main Street.
Busy little Williston is located in northwestern North Dakota at the convergence of the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers.
